Baby Essentials Available at ‘No Child Wet Behind’ Diaper Drive in Freeport

FHN gives away diapers and other baby essentials to families in need for the fifth year.

The free event took place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Lincoln Mall, 1255 W. Galena Avenue in Freeport.

Families received diapers size 2 and up, pull-ups, baby wipes, wash and lotion.

Representatives from Winnebago County Health Department, Family Connects Illinois and Birth to Five Illinois were available to give support for breastfeeding, postpartum depression and other health concerns.

The Stephenson County Health Department also offered free car seat checks at the event.

“The families really are not able to get the diapers through WIC and other programs, so this is something that really makes a difference,“ said Linn Carter, Director of Women’s and Medical Surgical Services for FHN.

Nearly 200 cars came through the diaper drive today, resulting in more than 1,000 diapers given away.
