Lou Ann Hayes, Birth to Five Illinois: Region 8 Council Manager (Carroll, Jo Daviess & Stephenson Counties), returns to WCCI In Touch to discuss her Team and Councils’ efforts to increase awareness of the need for child care in northwest Illinois, especially Carroll County.

Also interviewed is Kim Lamz, Director of the area’s Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) Agency, 4-C: Community Coordinated Child Care. The identification of this child care need and several area partnerships have led to the opening of Honey Bee Child Development Center at Shimer Square in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

The hope is that this monumental investment in the community attracts more families and teachers to the area and is replicated in other neighborhoods so more children have access to Early Childhood Education and Care.
