Region 8 Interview on WCCI Radio

Lou Ann Hayes, Birth to Five Illinois: Region 8, talks on the In Touch segment of WCCI Radio about the gaps in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) service delivery impacting families with young children in Carroll, Jo Daviess, and Stephenson Counties. Children are not entering Kindergarten ready to learn. Lou Ann notes that, “This is the biggest problem in the State that nobody talks about” and describes the challenges families are facing not as a “family problem”, but instead as a “community problem”. Birth to Five Illinois is working in every community in the State to center and elevate the needs of families, build awareness of both service gaps and available programs, and bring change-makers together to develop Action Plans and implement strategies to meet the local ECEC needs.
