Northwest Illinois families will have new opportunities to connect and learn this spring and summer through programs offered by Birth to Five Illinois: Region 8.
On April 30, Region 8 (Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Carroll Counties) is teaming up with four other Birth to Five Illinois regions to host a virtual Parent Cafe titled 'Weathering the Storm.' This online event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. and is designed to bring parents and caregivers together in a safe and supportive environment.
Parent Cafés give families a chance to talk and listen about topics that matter most, including the challenges and joys of raising children, overall well-being, and supporting loved ones. Through open conversation, participants share experiences, build on their strengths, and learn new ways to support their families.
“We are excited to enhance our outreach with programs that can help parents,” said Lou Ann Hayes, Regional Council Manager.
In addition, Birth to Five Illinois: Region 8 will offer story times at local libraries throughout Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Carroll counties this summer. These story times will focus on helping children understand and express their feelings while supporting their mental and behavioral health.
