Rep. Haas Honors Local Women at Emerging Women Leaders Event (Kankakee, IL) — Yesterday, State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) welcomed Lamekia Davis and Liz Gibson to the Emerging Women Leaders Event in Springfield. The event consisted of a brunch, listening session, and informational seminars from other women in leadership roles. Rep. Haas moderated the ‘Put Your Oxygen Mask on First’ breakout session, which focused on maintaining positive mental health while in a leadership position.

“It was an honor to welcome Lamekia Davis and Liz Gibson to the Emerging Women Leaders Event in Springfield,” said Rep. Haas. “Lamekia and Liz are both emerging leaders in the District 79 community, and this was a wonderful opportunity for them to network and learn more from other women who have succeeded in their roles as leaders.”

Lamekia Davis is a Financial Literacy Advocate and a member of the Rich Township District 227 Board of Education. Liz Gibson is the Regional Council Manager of Region 32 for Birth to Five Illinois.

Rep. Haas concluded, “Attending this event with Lamekia and Liz, along with moderating the ‘Put Your Oxygen Mask on First’ breakout session, were both incredible and empowering experiences that I will never forget. I look forward to seeing the continued success and growth of the women leaders we saw at today’s event.”

Lamekia and Liz were two of nearly 50 women from across the state that attended this event. The contributions of these women were also honored by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie.
