Yes, but Who is His REAL Mom? - By Ashlie Zwilling

An image of two women. One is holding a child. A quote from the story is at the bottom. The Illinois map with a Region highlighted in blue is to the right.

I am a parent in a same sex parent household. We used a sperm donor after we got married, and my wife got pregnant and gave birth to our child. What I am most happy and proud of as a member of our community, especially in Early Intervention (when our child needed speech therapy services) and in his early Childhood Education program, is I have never been questioned or made to feel less than my partner in regards to parental validity. Unfortunately, I have experienced discrimination in a number of medical facilities in the area, but I have always felt valid and important as a parent in the education system.
