A child and an adult play with a stacking toy. A quote from the story is at the bottom. The Illinois map with a Region highlighted in blue is to the right.

I first learned about the Regional Office of Education (ROE) #13 Birth to Three Program when a friend shared a post on Facebook. She’s part of the Birth to Five Illinois Family Council and often posts updates, but something about this one caught my attention. I decided to sign up, not fully understanding what the program offered or how much I truly needed it.

From the very first visit, my family advocate became someone I didn’t realize I had been missing, someone in my corner, on my side, showing up every week with support, guidance, and encouragement. Before this program, I often felt like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to juggle everything on my own. Having someone to walk alongside me brought a sense of calm and direction I didn’t know was possible.

The benefits of being part of the Birth to Three Program have been unbelievable. The activities, the developmental support, the learning opportunities, and most importantly, the connection have made such a difference for me and my child. I find myself wishing a program like this had existed for me years ago when I was a teenage mom. It would have changed so much.

I’m incredibly grateful that I saw that Facebook post and took a chance on something new. This program has helped me grow as a parent and reminded me that support is out there and that I deserve it. The ROE #13 Birth to Three Program has truly been a blessing for our family.
