Foster Mom of a Developmentally Delayed Child and What Early Intervention Can Do – By Jessica Koker

A photo of two adults hugging a child. A quote from the story is at the bottom. The Illinois map with a Region highlighted in blue is to the right.

My foster son received speech and occupational therapy services. They were really helpful but the waitlist for those services was so long. He was almost 3 and no longer able to receive services by the time he was off the waitlist. It would have been helpful to have information on what to work on in the waiting time, but after receiving the services for less than 6 months he was caught up from a 42% delay to a 0% delay.
