Thankful for My Case Coordinator - By Anonymous

A photo of an adult kissing a baby on the cheek. A quote from the story is at the bottom. The Illinois map with a Region highlighted in blue is to the right.

All of my children had different experiences when it came to breastfeeding. My most recent child was struggling with latching, and I was struggling to find help. The hospital referred to Lactation Specialists at $50/hour. This seemed steep, considering I would also have to drive over an hour for appointments. Finally, my Case Coordinator was able to find one at the local hospital. I was nervous that there would be a long waitlist to find a slot for me, because that is the experience I have had trying to get my other kids' doctor's appointments at the same building. Luckily, that was not the case, and I was able to get in quickly. Without the help of my Case Worker researching options, I don’t think I would have been able to breastfeed my baby.
